Abstract

The article examines the psychological characteristics of professional re-adaptation of the unemployed having the status of internally displaced persons (IDP). The essence and content of the concepts of “adaptation” and “re-adaptation” are clarified from the perspective of using the reserve, compensatory capabilities of a person and the style of responding to the situation of unemployment. General and distinguishing features of the stages of re-adaptation and adaptation are highlighted. On the basis of relevant practical experience, general personal traits characteristic for this category unemployed are highlighted.

The general methodological and organizational aspects of professional re-adaptation are considered. Regardless of the specific forms of psychogenic factors, professional re-adaptation at the mental level is subject to the dynamics of the following stages: preparatory; starting mental stress; acute mental reactions of entry; pre-adaptation; final mental stress; acute mental exit reactions; re-adaptation. The levels (high, medium, low) of professional re-adaptation of the IDP unemployed are differentiated. For each level, the process of a person’s fitness restoring to specific conditions is detailed. It is clarified that the plasticity and adaptability of professional re-adaptation of the unemployed, experiencing a multidimensional crisis, is not so much in changing ways of acting, but is changing the attitude towards the crisis.

The rationality of purposeful work aimed at expanding the psychological capabilities of another person in his/her personal, professional and social functioning is substantiated. A range of modern forms of psychological assistance, aimed at overcoming the dynamic stereotypes of professional re-adaptation under extreme conditions, is considered. An important criterion for professional and personal re-adaptation is a correlation between an agent's self-attitude (professional satisfaction) and the characteristics of his/her psychological time (professional feasibility). Prospects for further research are to study an impact of different forms of psychological assistance on professional rehabilitation of the IDP unemployed of different ages, and to determine possible tight correlations between the features.
