Abstract
The article addresses the relevance of developing and implementing innovative approaches to psychological support in the context of an increasing number of crisis situations, particularly traumatic events and chronic stress. It substantiates the potential of S. W. Porges' Polyvagal Theory (PVT) as an effective tool for understanding the psychophysiological mechanisms of stress response and optimizing psychological assistance for individuals experiencing crisis states.
Through a theoretical analysis of key PVT concepts, including the hierarchical organization of the autonomic nervous system, the significance of this theory is demonstrated. Particular attention is paid to the practical value of PVT's "traffic light" model for diagnosing clients' physiological states and developing individualized psychological intervention strategies.
The authors argue that applying PVT contributes to a deeper understanding of trauma responses, the establishment of neuroceptive safety as a foundation for interventions, the development of self-regulation, the stimulation of social interaction, and increased awareness of the physiological basis of stress. It is concluded that the Polyvagal Theory is a promising innovative approach in the field of psychological support in crisis situations, capable of enhancing the effectiveness of interventions through restoring a sense of safety, developing self-regulation, and strengthening social connections. The "traffic light" model is recognized as a valuable practical tool in the context of providing psychological assistance.
