Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • Submitted materials has not previously been published, nor has it been submitted for review and publication in another journal (if yes, explanations should be given in the Comments for the editor).
  • The submitted material (file) is presented in OpenOffice document, Microsoft Word, or RTF format.
  • The full Internet addresses (URLs) for links of sources are given where possible.
  • The text is typed with a 1, 5 line spacing; The font size is 12 points; it uses italic, not underscore (except for URLs); all illustrations, graphs and tables are located in the appropriate places in the text, and not at the end of the document.
  • The text corresponds to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements described in the Guidelines for Authors, which can be found just below.

Psychological Journal / Психологічний часопис

1. Aims and Scope

Psychological Journal is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal publishing high-quality research in:

  • clinical psychology
  • applied and counseling psychology
  • health psychology
  • neuropsychology
  • behavioral sciences
  • psychological resilience, well-being, and mental health

The journal publishes empirical, theoretical, review, and methodological articles.

2. Open Access Policy

The journal provides immediate open access to all published content in accordance with the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative.

All articles are published under a Creative Commons license (CC BY or CC BY-NC-SA).

3. Publication Model (Diamond Open Access) 

& Editorial Independence

The journal operates under an open access model with a waiver policy, ensuring broad accessibility and inclusiveness.

  • Submission and peer review are free of charge
  • Publication decisions are based solely on scientific merit
  • The journal applies a double-blind peer review process

The editorial process is fully independent and complies with the principles of Committee on Publication Ethics.

4. Optional Editorial Support Services

To support authors in improving manuscript quality, the journal may offer optional editorial services, including:

  • academic language editing
  • formatting according to journal requirements
  • reference styling (APA 7th edition)

These services are:

  • entirely voluntary
  • not required for submission or publication
  • not influencing editorial decisions

The use of such services has no impact on acceptance or rejection.

5. Submission Requirements

Manuscripts must be submitted via the journal’s online submission system (OJS platform).

Submissions by email are not accepted, except in exceptional cases approved by the editorial office.

6. Language

The journal accepts manuscripts in:

  • English (strongly recommended for international visibility and indexing)
  • Ukrainian

All manuscripts must include an English abstract.

7. Article Structure (Scopus / WoS compliant)

Manuscripts should follow the IMRaD structure:

8. References

  • APA 7 style is required
  • At least 30% of sources should be international
  • Preference should be given to sources indexed in Scopus and WoS
  • Sources in Cyrillic must be transliterated with English translation in brackets

9. Ethical Standards

The journal adheres to:

  • COPE Core Practices
  • ICMJE Recommendations
  • international publication ethics standards

Authors must declare:

  • conflicts of interest
  • funding sources
  • ethical approval (if applicable)

The following are strictly prohibited:

  • plagiarism and self-plagiarism
  • data fabrication or falsification
  • duplicate submission
  • misuse of AI-generated content

10. Peer Review Process

The journal uses a double-blind peer review system.

  • Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers
  • Reviewers remain anonymous
  • Editorial decisions include:
    • Accept
    • Minor revision
    • Major revision
    • Reject

11. Archiving and Indexing Infrastructure

The journal ensures long-term preservation and accessibility through:

  • OJS / PKP platform
  • DOI registration (Crossref)
  • ORCID integration
  • digital archiving systems (LOCKSS / PKP PN)

12. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain copyright and grant the journal the right to publish their work under a Creative Commons license.

13. Disclaimer

The authors bear full responsibility for the content of their publications.

The editorial board reserves the right to make linguistic and formatting corrections.
