Abstract

The article discusses the bodily-self phenomenon of all family members. The bodily-self consists of the cognitive and emotionally-valued components and itself is a constituent of an individual’s self-conception. The bodily locus of control is distinguished in the context of a person’s attitude to his/her own body. The research presents a balanced construction of the cognitive and emotionally-valued bodily-self components through inclusion into their composition of indexes of the sanogenic thinking and coping mechanisms. The following methods were used as diagnostics tools to create on a philological-diagnostic set: “The bodily-self verbalization” of T. B. Khomulenko, V. O. Kramchenkova; “Bodily locus of control” of T. B. Khomulenko, V. O. Kramchenkova, D. M. Turkova, the method for coping mechanism diagnostics proposed by E. Heim in L. I. Vasserman’s adaptation and the Cognitive and Emotional Test of Y. M. Orlov. T. B. Khomulenko’s point of view, the studies on control localization (J. Rotter, Е. F. Bajenov, Е. А. Golinkin, L. M. Etkind), the theories and practices of sanogenic thinking developed by Y. M. Orlov, coping strategy understanding proposed by E. Heim and the coping in the bodily context examined by I. O. Kornienko were used as a methodological base of the research to understand such psychosomatics phenomena as the normal functionality, bodily-self interpretations and the psychosomatic competence. The present work shows existence of links between the psychosomatic competence and the bodily locus of control. The father’s role in adolescents’ bodily-self development is defined. An insufficient behavioural component of coping mechanism has been determined in the context of the bodily locus of control. The emotional sphere is a problematic zone of adolescents’ bodily-self. We are going to continue our scientific studies in the direction of development and approbation of a corrective-developmental program for family members’ bodily-self development.
