Abstract
Preliminary. The study of the gender dimension of resilience (psychological resilience) is based on the understanding that men and women often use different coping strategies due to biological, social and cultural factors. Upbringing dictates different expectations: men are often required to have «emotional restraint» and autonomy, while women are expected to have empathy and seek social support. This creates a basis for the formation of specific mechanisms for coping with stress. Therefore, the aim of the article is to theoretically analyze and substantiate resilience as a gender and sex identity that affects coping strategies, role expectations and adaptation. Methods – theoretical analysis, comparative analysis, system-structural analysis, synthesis and generalization method, interdisciplinary approach and justification of resilience as a gender and sex identity that affects coping strategies, role expectations and adaptation. The results of the theoretical analysis of the gender dimension of resilience show that, with a similar general level of resilience, women are more likely to use emotionally-oriented coping strategies and seek social support, while men are more likely to use rational planning or avoidance strategies. The findings emphasize the need for a gender-sensitive approach to the development and implementation of psychological support and adaptation programs.
