Abstract
Article deals with an extremely important role of the self-esteem in the process of the personality self-improvement. Analyzed conceptual approaches in determining the content of the psychological phenomenon of schoolchildren's self improvement; singled psychological and pedagogical determinants; justified basic conditions for its formation. In the article conclusions about the multidimensional nature of the phenomenon and its multiplicity of definitions. Self-esteem analyzed as a result of the self-knowledge as a unity of himself. Experimentally investigated interconnection between self-improvement and self-esteem of the students. Author determined the level of formation of self-esteem in adolescents and seniors. Presented its quantitative and qualitative characteristics. The necessity of self-analysis in the indissoluble unity of the process of the personality self improvement, emotional and value attitude to himself and self-regulation. Self-esteem in this process reflects their levels of the development.
