Abstract

The article raises the topic of psychological support and correction of coping strategies of women victims of domestic violence and summarises the algorithm of actions.

Coping strategies are a necessary component of a person's life under any conditions of struggle. The ways and methods of overcoming difficult circumstances depend on many factors, including the possible division into constructive and destructive strategies. There are many reasons for this or that choice, ranging from the conditions of early development, growth and personality formation to the presence of aggravating circumstances. Domestic violence, unfortunately, is still a topical issue in Ukrainian society, where the habit of justification and suffering in the face of abuse are intertwined, which undoubtedly affects the choice of coping.

The overwhelming majority of victims of domestic violence are women, and they are the focus of this article, which discusses the main approaches to the formation of constructive coping strategies and ways to achieve this goal.

Thus, one of the main conditions is the provision of psychological support and the subsequent long-term correctional programme, which is designed to form constructive coping strategies, encouraging them to leave the cycle of violence. Such work requires the gradual involvement of women victims of domestic violence in the process of overcoming, consolidation of the initial result, correction of coping strategies and subsequent participation. It is also important to pay attention to the careful training of professionals who accompany the process of correcting coping strategies, as it requires empathy and constant communication with women.

The path of developing constructive coping strategies for women victims of domestic violence can be long and sometimes difficult, but it can change the quality of life and achieve psychological well-being.
