This means that acting nowadays in yesterday’s ways, no matter how improved, will not lead to success. Ever more often, business companies face the task of withstanding the pressure brought about by big changes and maintaining competitiveness under new conditions. And the bigger changes the greater needs in efficient leadership.</p> <p>The author proves the importance of leadership traits development in future specialists graduating from a technical university for their successful activities in business later on. Considering these factors, it is necessary to introduce the subject of “Leadership psychology in business” into the educating and training process as an optional course for magister students at technical universities.</p> <p>The goal of teaching this subject is getting students acquainted with the main problems in leadership psychology, as well as training students to be able to solve social-and-psychological problems in modern business organizations.</p> <p>The article contains a detailed analysis of the topics for lecture and seminar classes of the optional subject “Leadership psychology in business”.</p> <p>The author stresses the importance of leadership history knowledge from most ancient times up to nowadays for a future business leader’s development. Special attention is paid to studying transaction, transformation, and charismatic leaderships. The author accentuates that a capable and charismatic businessperson clearly understands their own role, avoids mistakes and finds an optimum solution in every specific situation.</p> <p>The article also points to the essence of a business leader’s authority. The author thinks that a businessperson possessing authority leads their system to success, while the one who doesn’t leads it to a dead-end.</p> <p>It is noted in the article that the knowledge of a business leader’s psychological peculiarities enhances efficient training engineers-leaders, developing and realizing their leadership potential and creative skills, facilitates providing a favourable psychologic climate, controlling conflicts, and determining a collective’s priorities.</p> <p>On the grounds of the conducted research, the following conclusions are made: firstly, a business entrepreneur is a person who acts as a manager of a business enterprise, which is why for an enterprise to be successful this person has to possess a leader’s traits. Secondly, a real business-leader enjoys success and esteem only when they consider their group members’ interests, displays humaneness, empathy, thus causing subordinates’ trust that enhances favourable psychological climate in the collective, an essential component of a modern business enterprise. Thirdly, the developed range of topics for the subject of “Leadership psychology in business” for technical university students enhances developing a business leader’s personality competencies and deserves further incorporation into training-and-educating process of a technical higher education establishment for students in technical, technological, and economic branches.</p> <p>The author believes that the perspectives in this direction are the developments in specifying the essence of topic range for students’ independent work on business leadership psychology and their purposeful applying the information obtained within the system of future social-and-humanities specialists training at a technical university.</p> <p> </p>}, number={9}, journal={PSYCHOLOGICAL JOURNAL}, author={Hura Tetуana}, year={2018}, month={Nov.}, pages={138–151} }
