Abstract

In recent years, the interest in expanding the possibilities of psychodiagnostic approaches has been steadily growing, including during expert examinations with the participation of a psychologist, as well as the development of a new psychodiagnostic toolkit with a wide and narrow professional field of use. Thanks to modern approaches, it becomes possible to develop diagnostic criteria for the recognition of a person who is partially sane or partially capable, which makes expert research more sophisticated and reasoned. One of the main tasks of psychological diagnosis in the examination is the ability, skills and practical experience of an expert psychologist when using psychodiagnostic tools for making the correct psychological decision. Psychodiagnostic research consists of successive stages that require the psychologist to be able to understand the features of the patient’s mental activity and contribute to making an objective decision.

The validity of the diagnostic and expert findings are regulating by the need for the presence of a number of elements, which include both psychological and psychopathological data. Their analysis is possible only with the use of special knowledge, primarily psychological, because when it comes to deciding whether a person is able to control his actions, the answer is impossible without the involvement of appropriate specialists.

For expert practice, it is important to analyze how at each stage of activity the idea of a legally significant task, motive, goal, and how the consequences of elections chosen from alternatives for people with mental disorders are predicted. Such an analysis is possible due to psychological categories that come to the fore when conducting examinations with the participation of a psychologist. An important aspect in making expert decisions and solving legal issues is the assessment of human behavior, the characteristics of its manifestation in legally significant situations.  As well as the analysis of combinations of strong-willed and intellectual components, with certain violations, which can distort the motivational mechanisms in general, lead to a decrease in criticism and make it impossible to understand, realize their actions and predict their consequences.

Since one of the main signs of mental health is the ability of a person to adequately manage behavior and mental functions in general, the issue of compliance of motives of behavior with emotional and volitional reactions, intellectual and mnestic level, moral and ethical attitudes and pathology remains relevant. That is why a significant role in the examination assigns to psychological diagnostics, which helps to identify the depth of disorders and personality traits.
