Abstract

           The main objectives of the parents of a child with disabilities are a change vision in violation of his child. The scholarly objective is to study: problems related to the illness of the child which determine the emotional state of parents having a child with special needs; the stages of experience of the birth of a sick child, and types of emotional reactions of parents. The practical objective of our research is the basis for designing psychological support for parents raising a child with developmental disabilities. Of course, parents are not the cause of child disability, but competent parenting and their inner state is of crucial importance to promote the comprehensive development of children, in front of the secondary problems and improve the child's level of functioning. We describes the main problems and experiences of parents raising a child with special needs. A family with a disabled or chronically ill child has to face a complex of social problems: cultural, psychological, economic, and educational. Under the contemporary conditions of development of Ukrainian society, a sick child remains a source of stress for the parents and close relatives. Traditionally the problem of families who raise children with special needs are considered exclusively through the prism of the child’s problems. Very important aspect of working with parents is psychotherapy. Described model of psychological assistance to the families of children with mental and physical disabilities and content of management help family and it’s complex character - medical, legal, psychological, educational, economic, and their main goal. Being aware of the psychological stages singled out in the grief theory helps professionals: to understand the reaction of the family of a child with developmental disabilities;realise when and how it is best to intervene, flexibly apply the theory of stages, and account for the specific characteristics of a particular family and individual reaction\ns to such shocks.  Considered in detail the philosophy and principles of solution focused brief therapy in work with parents. The main advantages of solution focused brief therapy. Described the method how to manage difficult children’s behavior of C. Suttton. Children imitate behavior patterns entourage, which brought up and the first teachers and educators, usually the parents.
