Abstract

This paper deals with the issue of psychological determinants of teenage value attitude towards the environment. As such a factor, the lifestyle of an urban family is empirically studied. It is assumed that the value attitude of a teenager towards the urban environment depends on the existence of ecological orientation in the family lifestyle. Ecologically concerned lifestyle is an orientation of a family on mastering of living conditions to satisfy all groups of needs of the individual in the urban environment (spiritual, social and physical).

The indicators of ecologically concerned lifestyle of a family were theoretically substantiated at two levels: 1) at the level of microenvironment of the family dwelling; 2) at the level of macroenvironment of the conurbation. In the living microenvironment such an indicator is allocation of the personal (primordial) territory for each family member, where privacy is observed. In the conurbation such an indicator is the joint family leisure, oriented at the regular attendance of natural, cultural, historical city centres. The proprietary technologies of studying the manifestation of ecologically concerned family lifestyle at these levels were applied.  168 pupils  (14-15years old)  of the secondary school from Kyiv participated in experiment. The statistically significant connection between the indicators of ecologically concerned lifestyle in micro- and macroenvironment was drawn.

The value attitude of a teenager towards the urban environment is expressed in the tendency to identify oneself with it. It is assumed that the ecological orientation of the family life style in the micro- and macroenvironment influences the perception of other fragments of urban area from the point of view of possible identification with them. As the empirical indicator of such perceptive tendency of the teenager’s views on their dwelling area were selected. By means of the semantic differential proprietary method, the differences between categorical structures of perception of dwelling area of the teenagers from the families with various life styles were identified. These differences testify to the readiness to identify oneself with the area in the families with a strongly ecologically concerned life style and to the absence of such readiness in the families without ecologically concerned life style.
